Light, airy and simply heavenly: this Easter bread with classic trail mix from Farmer's Snack is not only a highlight on any Easter brunch table, but also tastes wonderful with afternoon coffee - or simply on its own, dunked in hot milk. The mixture of roasted nuts and juicy grapes makes the pastry particularly aromatic and gives the yeast dough that certain something.
Ingredients
For the yeast dough:
170 ml lukewarm milk
100 g sugar
1 packet of vanilla sugar
80 g melted butter
1 cube of fresh yeast
500 g flour
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
2 eggs
In addition:
100 g soft butter
1 pack of Farmer's Snack trail mix classic
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
Preparation
- To make the yeast dough, mix the lukewarm milk with the sugar, vanilla sugar and melted butter. Crumble in the fresh yeast, stir and leave to rise for approx. 10 minutes.
- Then add the flour, salt, orange zest and egg and knead everything into a smooth dough. The dough should no longer stick, but if it does, simply knead in a little more flour. Now cover the yeast dough and leave it to rise in a warm place for approx. 1 hour; it should then have roughly doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 160 °C fan oven (180 °C top/bottom heat).
- Once the yeast dough has risen, roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle measuring approx. 60 cm by 40 cm. Spread the softened butter all over the yeast dough and spread evenly.
- Spread the trail mix over the dough sheet and roll it up from the long side. Then cut the roll once in the middle and roll up both strands to form a snail. Place the two snails on top of each other and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. If available, place a baking ring around the snails and bake for approx. 35 - 45 minutes.
- Sprinkle the Easter bread with powdered sugar before serving.
