From the orchard to you

Between March and April, the apricot trees herald the start of the blossoming season in the orchard with their beautiful white-pink blossoms. Our particularly fruity apricots grow in the dry climate of the eastern Anatolian plateau - in the region around Malatya, the orchard of Turkey. Ripened under the sun and gently dried, the dried fruit tastes fruity-sweet* and wonderfully juicy as a snack!

The apricot capital Malatya

Turkey's large apricot orchards have a long tradition. Today, the country supplies around 95 percent of the dried apricots traded in Europe. With an altitude of around 1000 meters, the Turkish province of Malatya in the mountains offers the ideal climate for the apricots to ripen into juicy, sweet* fruit.

Turkish farmers take special care of their apricot trees during the flowering period, as the delicate blossoms are susceptible to frost. Too much rain can also damage the blossom and prevent the bees from pollinating the flowers. If all goes well, fruity, aromatic apricots ripen on the trees when the weather is right.

The harvest of the sun-ripened fruit begins in July. The farmers carefully and mechanically shake the bright orange apricots from the trees, collect them and immediately lay them out to dry. After three days, the apricots are pitted and dried further. Did you know that the apricot kernels are processed into persipan? A close relative of marzipan, which tastes a little stronger.

Dried apricots: juicy enjoyment in organic quality**

Before the dried apricots are shipped, they are of course washed, dried again, sorted and packaged. Some of the dried apricots are sulphurized so that they retain their bright orange color. Each bag of Farmer's Snack apricots contains one kilo of these sun-ripened delicacies!

In the natural version, the dried organic apricots** impress with their light caramel note. So wonderfully aromatic - the pitted dried fruits are completely free from artificial flavorings and preservatives. They are grown organically in the apricot orchard in Malatya under the Turkish sun. You can recognize the organic apricots** not only by their unmistakable taste but also by their slightly darker golden color. And of course: our Farmer's Snack organic apricots** are naturally vegan and gluten-free.
