Discover the origin of our almonds
With greetings from the island
The first two months of the year belong to the almond blossom. This is when the trees are transformed into pink-spotted works of art and the small island of Mallorca becomes a colorful natural spectacle. It was here, in the Artá region in the north of the island, that we found something special: Almonds, with skin and blanched. In this beautiful place, the sweet almond trees grow wild and develop their very own, unique marzipan-like taste.
How do our almonds grow?
The time of almond blossom on the island is popular. Our almond trees also put on their most beautiful garb at this time. Thanks to the mild winter months, the first blossoms open at the end of December. Numerous visitors, locals and tourists come to admire the colorful splendor. No wonder, this picture is unforgettably beautiful!
The harvest itself takes place in the fall. Then, when the sea of blossom has disappeared, our almonds are ripe! A vibrating machine removes the small kernels from the tree before they land softly in the collecting net - surrounded by a hard shell. To loosen this, the harvested almonds are moistened and gently cracked by machine and carefully freed from their shells.
The remaining brown skin is removed to obtain our blanched almonds. To do this, the almond kernels are briefly soaked in water, which removes the thin almond skin from the kernels. What remains are blanched, natural almonds from Germany's favorite island!
